1, 2, 3 Count One Two Three

{the pierces new album, you & i, hits stores and american itunes this tuesday}

There's three things that I think all teenage girls love (or at least like) and in my eyes the're basic human necessities: food, fashion and music. I'm here to give you a small dose of all three tonight, and we'll kickstart with a restaurant review:

1) On Friday evening, I kicked my heels back after my first week as a business woman and went on a dining adventure with my girlfriends Mollie and Makenna. After tossing ideas around (mostly suggestions from my food connoisseur brother Jimmy), we decided to give the new, hip spot in Highland Village a try--Up. Appropriately named for the required trip you have to take on an elevator to get to the restaurant, the atmosphere and view is great, and the food is even better. We didn't feel like we were in Houston anymore.
Here's a view of the inside. You can see why it's a trendy spot. But, to avoid an extensive wait during Friday out-to-eat traffic, we chose to dine..

outside on their beautiful patio that overlooks the shopping centers. With fans and a nice breeze, it was actually very pleasant despite the overly humid days we've been experiencing. My caprese salad was almost as divine as the one I had in Paris last summer, and my chicken dish was also very good. Another perk--I left feeling perfectly content but not too full as I do after a lot of fine dining restaurants.

I. Love. The Pierces. If the name doesn't ring a bell, rest assured you've likely heard them on TV shows like Gossip Girl or even to the theme of Pretty Little Liars. Their tunes are either hilariously odd and amusing like "Boring", flirty and bouncy numbers like "Boy in a Rock and Roll Band", or completely captivating like my all-time favorite "Three Wishes." It's coming up on five years since they released "Thirteen Tales of Love and Revenge" which hosts all the tracks I just mentioned. Their new album debuts in the US this Tuesday and I couldn't be more thrilled. Here's a little preview:

I chose to save the best for last. A good pair of shoes put my weekend over the top. Lexi and I's initial mission to find rush dresses at the Galleria quickly deviated into solely a mission for shoes (pun intended!). She came home with three pairs of totally practical wedges, while my only shoebox enclosed a pair of completely impractical heels.
However, I'm a firm believer in splurging every once in a while on an item that may not be part of your everyday wardrobe, but always makes you smile when you see it in your closet and know that the perfect occasion will one day arise to don that special somethin'.

Hope all your weekends were as relaxing and pleasant as mine. And thank goodness for the rain spell today; for a minute there I thought I was going to have to put my Hunters on the market!
