Don't Drink & Derive

For better or for worse, it's AP score time. And whether you rushed to call in on July 1st or your checking the mail frantically every day to make sure your parents don't grab hold of that envelope before you do, the time has come for us all to see the consequences of our senioritis unfold. It got me to thinking how I never posted anything on our AP Calculus Bowling tournament. It just so happens to be the largest calculus bowling tournament in the world. And the only. But that's beside the point. The point is after a year full of deriving and integrating, u-substituting and Reimann summing, it was time to let loose and raise "shell" at the bowling alley.

The battle is between the AB and BC calculus classes. And though BC has taken the trophy home for four years straight now, it's the prep and planning (and oddly delicious bowling alley food) that's the real fun.

{the see can't team}

We were divided up into teams within our classes and have to designate a math-related pun as our team name. And if it's been awhile since you last derived a function, the name's may not mean anything, but in the height of AP season, we thought we were pretty clever.

There were the Logs with Rhythm as seen above, The Designated Derivers, The Tan Gents, Reimann Bums, Paraballin' Functions, Bad Asymptotes, and The Chain Gang. My team was inspired by what may be the most popular slogan to date -- the Nike Just DU its.

Being the second to last day of school, the non-bowlers and bowlers alike we all ready to play hookie even if it was for a nerdy calculus competition.
