Expect the Unexpected

{i spy my two favorite fashion icons together in the middle left photo}

Celebrities doubling as style icons is practically the norm these days. The September Issue informed me that Anna Wintour started the trend of displaying celebrities on the cover of fashion magazines in lieu of models. As we all know, the idea took off and is still thriving today with our Hollywood-obsessed culture. There's good and bad to that, but I, for one, have to admit that I usually seek out my inspiration from bloggers and yes, celebrities. My newest obsession is found in the stylish and sophisticated Diane Kruger. You know her from the National Treasure films and Inglorious Basterds.

It's no surprise that this German gal was a former fashion model. And her petite figure is evidence of her many years of intensive ballet as a child.

Funny story how I stumbled on DK and her wickedly good taste. I found out she was the current significant other to Dawson's Creek (my summer 2011 television series addiction) Joshua Jackson, and decided I needed to do further research. It was instant approval and girl crush at first site after I noted her spectacular taste!

She doesn't stick with the ordinary and loves to add strict structure to otherwise flowy gowns.

We all know showy patterns and frou-frou are commonplace in my wardrobe, so this dress made me ooh and ahh.

Yet she also works more simple silhouettes and then adds punch through her color scheme.

My inner longhorn was drawn to this Greek goddess J Mendel gown.

Her style can be seen on and off the red carpet, like in this absolutely precious monochromatic look.

I'm always sympathetic to those who have similar ghostly skin like me, and I applaud her for wearing a nude shade and looking absolutely gorgeous in it. Giving hope to all of us pasty whiteys in the world and looking fab while doing it...you go girl.

And again... It's no wonder that those paparazzi are goin' nuts!

She and Josh have been spending their summer in Paris (I'm not going to be bashful and/or ashamed of my stalking habits, k?) and she is whipping out gorgeous dress after gorgeous dress. I love the color combination of this one and her modesty. She proves that elegance is still alive and well and not everything has to be low-cut or come with a jaw-dropping slit.

Oh, and that little boy accessory of hers makes all of her looks even that much more flawless.

As delightful as this hot pink gown is, I dare say that her dashing umbrella caddy is even more charming.

So with only a week left before New York, I'll be looking to the likes of celebrities like Diane for my packing inspiration. And to think--all thanks to a cheesy 90s teen drama series, ha!
