What Gulf Shores lacked in sunshine, it made up for in good company.

As they say, getting there was half the fun. I spent time with these girls in Baton Rouge before hitting the Alabama coast.

We arrived to our final destination well after sunset, but still made time to see everyone.

Neither days or nights were short of social gatherings.

Monday was mostly spent indoors due to unfavorable weather conditions.

Rarely did we come by a picture without somebody showing their Longhorn pride. This time E Web took care of that.

While mixing and mingling was the most popular activity of choice for the week, dancing was an alternate option, as Haley and Diandra demonstrate here.

While perusing through Meghan's iPad this week and happening upon the Notre Dame fight song, I discovered that she too had a fam dedicated to the fighting irish. We have three generations with my oldest brother, dad, and grandfather all being proud Notre Dame grads.

We were warned of long waits and not-so-cheap meals from past spring break Gulf Shores veterans, so most of us came prepared with food to cook for the week. Laura's family gave us delicious authentic cajun jambalaya to take with us and Merl's house cooked the Mexican feast you see above. So while the girls put on their aprons, the boys naturally...

{this map only shows about 1/5 of the UT houses in Gulf Shores and I'd say 1/15 of the all of the college Greek houses}
Over the years, this Gulf Shores trip has become quite the tradition for college freshmen. Other southern universities like Alabama, Georgia, and A&M helped us take over practically every home on West Beach Boulevard.

Photobucket
I got to see a couple of old friends like Brent from A&M, pictured in the top left.

Photobucket
But our UT crowd generally stuck together pretty well, like on what was most of our last day, when we threw a day party on this beach mound.

Even after only half a week, most of us were in agreement that we were wiped. It was time to go home and get the sleep we never seem to get at school (which obviously hasn't changed considering it's almost 3am right now). I was able to catch up on my z's and with family during my time at home that weekend. Slowly but surely, we're making the transition back into school mode, but come the weekend, I think we will all be Round-Up ready.
