By the end of last weekend, it looked like a shower of rainbows decided to rain inside all the closets of 2A. I'm almost certain most of the Hardin House closets were in similar conditions after last weekend's Round Up festivities in which Greek life is celebrated over two very long days.

I distinctly remember my visit to UT last year for Round Up and feeling somewhat out of place as all us high schoolers tried to imitate the college kids' Greek gear with camp tanks and the brightest pair of Nike shorts we owned. Needless to say, I felt much more in my element repping all my authentic Kappa gear this year.

This gear typically includes tanks, tattoos, croakies and sunglasses, koozies, beads, stickers, buttons, socks, shorts, and yes, this is the one time of year where fanny packs are not only acceptable, but a necessity.

Here's a versatile display of this year's round up gear for Kappa. Props to our favors committee for all their diligent design work!

I was so pleased to host my bestie Mollie for this weekend, though with this being her second visit all year (her first was SAE Jungle), I'm hoping I can accommodate her next year with a more low-key weekend. I'm not sure she trusts me that those exist at UT, but I can't blame her from the couple of tastes she's gotten thus far!

We spent the day at SAE, took a dinner break at Cuatro's in between, and then headed to Fiji for the remainder of the night. I got to introduce Moll briefly to a lot of my new college friends, and the inevitable response to my introduction was "Mollie...and Molly?!", but we've grown used to that reaction by now.

After a little escape into downtown to get a hearty breakfast, Mollie and I braved round two and headed to Fiji in the heat of the afternoon.

The "no high schoolers" policy was heavily enforced, as they had us all fetch wrist bands on campus using our college IDs to ensure we were legitimate. That green bracelet was a valuable accessory all weekend.
Merl also had friends from other schools visiting, like Kailee from A&M and

Hallie from TCU, as she shows with her horned frogs up in this photo.

The fact that practically everyone hit the dance floor area at some point despite the fact that you'd start sweating just by simply standing and socializing was a testament to how good the band was (which we just booked for Red House Ranch!).

Fiji's premiere event for the weekend is the Low Hoops basketball tournament.

Other fraternities and even athletes (like UT football and basketball players!) join the tournament that starts on Wednesday and concluded at this day party.

Tatum, Laura and I watched as an older Fiji team claimed victory this year.

Joe and his ladies

There was definitely not a shortage of these little guys this weekend.
After dinner and a break, we resurrected and somehow garnered up the energy for one last hurrah at SAE Saturday night. It was a weekend unlike most, and I think by the end, we were all thankful for a peaceful Sunday without a fanny pack around our waist or the smell of beer everywhere we turned. And this weekend is dedicated to my dad. He arrived today for Kappa Dad's weekend and we plan to enjoy good food, the good weather, and most importantly, the good father daughter company.
