As far as I'm concerned, the Fourth of July is severely underrated. Halloween is much too overhyped; Christmas seems to always snag all the holiday attention because presents are involved; and as good as a turkey and dressing is, I think we'd all admit we like a hot dog and a cold watermelon wedge just as much. To boot, school is never in session for this holiday, yet summer is still in full swing, with many memories already made and more still soon to come.
Many of us spend our Independence Day by the pool, lake, or beach, watching kids live their carefree lives. And then the day of leisure is finished with a fanfare of fireworks--a phenomenon that I see one to two times a year but never ceases to amaze me.
As is the case with most holidays, we tend to forget the cause for celebration--our independence. I'll always have a place in my heart for America and its traditions--baseball games, apple pie, southern hospitality, and the best color scheme there ever was. But, today, it's all about letting freedom ring. Without these many freedoms laid out for us by our forefathers, I wouldn't be able to blab on B.O.D. So, with that being said, happy, happy 236th birthday to the U S of A!
