For two weeks, every girl involved in a sorority at UT puts her life on hold for rush. While the process was undoubtedly exhausting, draining, and semi-stressful, it was also a great way to start sophomore year. Being held as hostages at the Kappa house allowed the whole chapter to spend time together we wouldn't otherwise be able to during the chaotic school year. Our voices and energy ran thin by the end, but friendships grew great lengths. Only problem is now I don't want to see all of the older girls go so soon! But, there's a new bunch of Kappas in town and they are going to fill 2001 University Avenue with just as much love, fun, and laughter. Needless to say, all the sweat, tears, manly voices, and throbbing feet was worth it in the end to see these smiling faces run towards our porch on bid day.

Meanwhile, we had been preparing for their much-anticipated arrival with their key name tags,

lots of yummy treats,

and our own smiling faces.

We could not have done it without the hard work of our all-star rush team including the rush queen, Mary Beth

& the rest of the dream team: Isabel, Kat, MB, Molly, Sullivan

Some of the girls got to celebrate with the fellow Kappa members in their family, like Tricia, whose mother and grandmother were both Texas Kappas, making her a third-generation KKG.

It hasn't even been a week's time yet and the girls are already the best of friends.

Some knew each other from the past

but we have girls from all over the map:

from Dallas to Houston, Austin to Fort Worth, Abilene to Beaumont, and even London and California.

This pledge class was nearly as important to me as my own, for we'll be spending the next three years with these girls and even sharing the house together a couple years down the road. Here are some of my favorites:

After a pledge class dinner, the girls came back to the house greeted by the entire chapter. We celebrated with a huge dance party before hitting up all the back-to-school fraternity parties.

The Kappa house is still buzzing with excitement from our KKG sweep! I'll be the first to admit it's nice to revert back to normalcy and reality, but I'll always look back fondly to the many moments of delirium and craziness that took place over the course of these past two weeks.

Congrats to all the new Kappa kuties!
