Kappa's Most Wanted

The hot topic at Kappa lunch last Thursday was where our secret destination would be for our first annual Kappa Kidnap. Many tried their hand at this guessing game, and my bet was on the Salt Lick barbecue after a few tellings hints such as a cowboy boots suggestion, a thirty-minute bus ride, and the rumored pricey venue. Seven hours later, and there we were, two-stepping the night away at The Salt Lick. (see the Salt Lick in a previous post here)

Our dates met us at the Block beforehand at an unusually early 7pm.

And then we boarded the buses. Our dates were not easily convinced that we weren't in on this top-secret location.

The bus eventually turned into standing-room-only, but the boys didn't seem to mind.

The Salt Lick is known for their finger-lickin' good barbecue and their large venues to host events like wedding receptions and in this case, Kappa Kidnap. They entryway were tressed with white lights, providing the perfect atmosphere.

Everyone "kidnapped" one lucky date to join in on the surprise fun.

The event was chapter-wide, so it was our first outing with the new pledge class.

We were delighted to hear that the general consensus the next day was that their first Kappa event was an outstanding success.

For the seniors, like Michelle and Susie, it was their first and last kidnap, but we hope to continue the tradition in the coming years as a way to kick off the school year.

Not a soul was shy to step onto the dance floor.

The end of the party didn't mean the end of the night for many as several of the buses headed to 7th & Trinity to take the herds of kidnappers and kidnapees to join the rest of our friends for the Thursday night festivities downtown.

After seven hours of fun, we finally made our way home and finished the evening with a quesadilla-making party. By the end of the night, I was claiming that this was one of my favorite nights of college thus far! I look forward to the coming Kappa events and can only hope they'll measure up to our premiere Kappa Kidnap.
