Sense Appeal VI

for the eyes:
{tortoise case for iPhone 5}
With Apple being all lips sealed and what not when it comes to releasing their new products, cases were not for sale for the 5s until after the big unveiling. I was all panicky about making sure this thing was safe and sound, so I was extra pleased to find one of the first cases CaseMate released to come in this lovely tortoise pattern.

for the mind:
I've covered most of the rainbow with school colors over the years. I started with cougar green, then moved onto Spring Branch bear blue, and later converted to the red and white with my unwavering loyalty to the Memorial Mustangs, and now burnt orange will forever be engraved in my heart as a proud Texas Longhorn. In honor of this Texas OU Red River rivalry weekend, I thought it was appropriate to honor the color of the year. Pantone's choice always drives a lot of trends in color you see in fashion, furnishings, and design. This year, they chose Tangerine Tango, a shade of orange that "marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow." So, as we enter the season of pumpkin patches, let's celebrate this shade before a new one takes center stage!

for the ears:
"Say you mean it, seal it up. Say you wanna try." Love the song. Might love the video even more. Give it a try--"Shuffle" by Bombay Bicycle Club.

fashion for feel:
{Levi's Core Better patterned jeans, Helluva Punch Utility Jacket, J. Crew Harper Leather Boot}
The three fall / winter essentials on my radar: unconventional patterns in denim, oversized army jackets & a classic black boot.

for taste:
{top left: brussel sprouts with warm bacon, mint & feta // top right: buffalo fried pickles with gorgonzola and bull's hot sauce // bottom left: jack rose cocktail // bottom right: "bacon & eggs" - crisp pork belly, poached egg, frisee, orange, maple gastrique, croutons // bottom: ellie, me, molly & hannah}
Last week, I was spoiled with two meals at Second Bar + Kitchen in downtown Austin. I got my first taste of Second in the middle of the week with my oldest brother Chris, who was in town for business. He introduced me to a new cocktail and shared some life experience with me as he reminisced on his own college days and his brief residency in Austin one summer. That weekend, I had seconds of Second with some of my favorite Kappas of all ages--Ellie who's a senior, Molly a junior, and Hannah a freshman. Molly's family took us all out for Moscow Mules (her family's favorite) and a lovely dinner.

This week was long and ended on a sour note with an unexpected illness that had me bedridden all of yesterday and still recovering for most of today, but I'm putting that behind me and looking forward to another good weekend!

PS - It's 11:01 and OU still sucks. Hook 'em!
